Random Thoughts and Ramblings

The last time I blogged once a day for a full month was September 2008. Since then, there have been a few sporadic posts here, and one stretch of ten days (5th through 15th of September ’09) when I put together a string of posts.

If you’ve looked at the calender, (over there—->) you’ll note that I’ve managed to put together eleven days worth of entries in a row. This is a wonderful thing.

I fully intend this to continue, so don’t go anywhere. There is a lot to talk about and I have a lot to say. I do hope to get more readers here; perhaps a few folks will comment and get a discussion going. That would be cool.

A lot has happened in the intervening months since I was a regular blogger. I moved, healthcare passed, huge oil spill in the Gulf, the tea party is still, inexplicably, rolling along.

Things seem to be building towards something. I can’t describe what this thing is, since I don’t know exactly, but it seems like there is something big on the horizon, something which will change everything.

Maybe I’m just waxing poetic, or I’ve been reading too much fiction, but I can’t help but think that something is in the offing.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m imagining things.

I Lost A Friend

Or maybe he wasn’t a friend after all. I don’t know. Anyway, for those who don’t know, I was part of a group of RPG players. We played all sorts of RPG’s, D&D, Rolemaster, HERO System. You name it, we’ve probably played it.

Anyway, since I’ve moved, I live quite a distance from them, so naturally, they have played the various campaigns without me. I never expected them to wait on me, so that was not a problem.

Well, one of the members, “Lance” we’ll call him, made an offhand remark that struck me as disrespectful. He said, in effect, that a robotic drone would be better to play with than me.

When I expressed my anger over the comment, instead of apologizing like anyone else would do, he stated that maybe I would prefer it if he put a picture of my wife’s face on the drone or maybe a funny hat with one of those pen lasers.

The thing is, this jackass didn’t bother to notice that he had offended me, but I was supposed to not be offended when he says I am replaceable by a drone.

I mean, what the fuck? He claims to have a huge IQ (he once stated around a 184 or something ridiculous like that). While I will acknowledge he is smarter than the average person, a 184 is stretching it. A lot.

I don’t claim to have a huge IQ. to be honest, I’ve never tested it, so I don’t know what it is. But even if I was The Doctor smart, I wouldn’t hold it over anyone’s head. That’s just stupid, in my view.

But, I guess I’m supposed to accept that people can push me around whenever they feel like it and I’m supposed to just take it and not say anything. Sorry! Doesn’t work that way.

Not anymore.
