Wha. . . ?
If I was a War2 vet, I’d be pissed. Even if I was a Republican War2 vet, I’d be pissed. How dare he use the anniversary of D-Day for his own political use.
I’m so sick of stupid Republicans. Learn the history of this country. Otherwise, you don’t deserve to run it.
This is revisionist history in the extreme!!!

Yes ma’am. Its the worst kind of false equivalency there is.

Not what he said. Said they risked they everything for freedom. A statement I believe most of those vets would support. The healthcare thing is stated as a specific example of that freedom, and a poorly tacked on political gambit— not a direct attribution, nor an attempted revision of history.
The revision comes from TYT, twisting it around with their usual hyperbole.

“Said they risked they everything for freedom.”
Right. He said that at the beginning of the speech. He then said something different. Watch the video again. At the 1:46 mark Rick Santorum says this, word for word: “Those Americans [who fought in Normandy], risked everything so they can make that decision on their health care plan.”
That is what I’m highlighting here. And no matter how you spin it, that’s what he said.

View it as you wish. I don’t care and am not spinning anything. What the man said is clear. He is not claiming clairvoyance for the troops in WWII, he is saying they fought for freedom— and making the clumsy leap to the freedom to make choices, such as those pertaining to healthcare. It is a tasteless bit of political opportunism, common enough in the whole breed regardless of party, not just this one guy.
Taking a stupid statement, and twisting it into something even moreso and claiming that’s what he said weakens the argument down to the level of 5 year olds on a playground somewhere….about what I expect from TYT. They might have had a decent debating point about how crass the original statement was, but choose instead to make an infantile attempt at making him look just plain stupid by deliberatly misunderstanding him, despite the fact that his meaning is clear.

Thank you. I will.

If you don’t care, why did you comment?

You are right. I’ll refrain in the future.
You don’t need me to point out the fallacy, I’ll not bother again.

You’re welcome to reply to anything you want, Storydad, but I WILL tell you you’re wrong if I think you’re wrong. In this case, YOU ARE WRONG.
If this fractures your frail ego, tough. I’m not going to coddle you and I’m not going to back down when I think I am right. If you cannot, or choose not to, handle that, then you are welcome to never post here again.
I really do not care which.

Nah, it’s not about any of that.
It’s just that you are right. I should not have commented. I have no investement in the argument, and every motivation to see you other than irritated.
These political jackholes are not worth argueing over, and you have enough going on without me pissing on you.
I am sorry.

Well, thank you. I’m sorry for the mean comments, as well.
As a totally unrelated aside, this comment marks the 999th here at the House of Goonery. Who will be 1,000? Let’s keep it going!
