There’s been a lot of talk about gun control issues in the wake of the recent Tucson shootings. A lot of this seems to be the usual mix of knee-jerk reactionist thought I’ve come to expect from the mainstream media (who themselves have a vested interest in keeping you scared).
Rachel Maddow has a few thoughts on this topic. You and Me and the 82nd Airborne
Banning the size of the magazine isn’t going to change matters. People are still going to try to kill each other over political matters because that’s human nature. You can’t legislate stupid, plain and simple.
Instead of banning weapons, how about something more logical? How about instead of shying away from guns, we embrace them and teach our children responsible gun safety? How about we demystify guns and stop treating our children like they can’t comprehend basic things and start treating them as what they are? People who are going to grow up and be adults? Don’t they deserve to know how to defend themselves, should the unthinkable happen and they need to pick up a gun to defend themselves? Neutering your child’s defensive combat options is a recipe for getting your kid killed.
Just my thoughts on the subject.
