I should probably just let this go, but, this is my space to express myself as I see fit. Anyone who doesn’t like it can move along with my blessings.
Recently, (as in yesterday), I was told (in essence) that I was allowed to have an opinion, but that I was not allowed to express it. I was also told to man the fuck up.
These two philosophies are in conflict with one another. Man the fuck up clearly means to express yourself, loudly and with feeling, and damn the consequences. At least, that’s my interpretation of it.
Censuring myself, on the other hand, clearly means to withhold any and all opinions and appears to be the antithesis of man the fuck up (MTFU, for short).
How, then, to reconcile the two?
One cannot. One is either expressive of one’s opinions or one is not. However, this does not give one license to act in a rude or threatening fashion towards others. Express yourself, but do so in a respectful way.
That is what I try to do, anyway. I don’t always succeed, but, I never claimed I was perfect.
