Today is Spirit Day

Today is Spirit Day. Today, I am standing up with the TLBG community and sites like The Trevor Project, GLAAD, Give A Damn Campaign, The Human Rights Campaign, and The No H8 Campaign along with many other great sites and groups to end the bullying of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender youth in our schools.

I was bullied when I was in school. I was the target of homophobic comments and slurs because I was thought to be gay. I got through those tough times by being stronger than the bullies who practiced their brand of hate. If you are being bullied, remember to not give up. The time you spend with those people will be over soon and you can move on and blossom into the person you were always meant to be.

You have friends and ally’s out there who will listen. Follow the links above and find a few thousand new friends. This is particularly vital if you are a young person who is considering suicide. Please, take a moment to think this drastic decision through. Suicide is the last thing you want to do (or should be). It’s the most final of solutions to the most temporary of problems.

And they are temporary. Soon, you won’t have to deal with those bullies anymore. Stay strong and contact one of the organizations listed above.

If you are the victim of bullying and you just want someone to listen, feel free to post your stories here. You can say whatever you want. Sometimes it feels good to just let it out. Please consider this before considering something more permanent.

There are people out there who understand what it is you are going through. They are ready to help you with these problems. Please, give one or more of them a chance, won’t you?

Remember, hate only wins if love fails to act.

Please repost this anywhere you want. If it saves one life, it’s done it’s job.
