I’ll let you in on a dirty little secret of Stephanie Myers’ book “Twilight” that no one else will tell you. It relates to the secret occult messages in the book.

Back? Good. This secret is so secret I could be thrown out of the Secret Occult Club for letting it out. Feel free to pass it on, but don’t tell anyone it was me who told you. I’ll deny it. And I’ve used powerful magic, sorry, “magick,” to prevent anyone but you from reading this.

Cha- Cha- Cha- Changes!

I am feeling very ambivalent towards the world right now. I’ve got major financial troubles heading my way. Okay, so there already here. I’ve got major depression issues and my thoughts are, once again, running to that “special place” wherein the future seems to grow.

I realize this is vague. It is deliberately so, for security reasons.

I am trying to sort my thoughts as I write this, fearing I shall never do so. My thoughts bend towards making a change, but the direction of the change, and its eventual outcome, are unknown. Perhaps, were I to meditate as I wish to do, I could divine the solution to the troubles in my soul.

There is but one course, as I see it, and it is one I have been meaning to take for sometime now.

Perhaps it is time to grasp the future. To live as I have always wanted to live. No more hiding! No more fear! No more listening to those whose only purpose is to drag you away from your dreams! They are irrelevant!

To live free and embrace the oncoming storm. To wrestle the obstacles to the ground, choking the life from them, and making them impotent against my will.

I am the forger of my destiny. It is I who holds the nugget of change within my grasp.

I’m going to go for it, so watch this space for updates.

The Courage of Those Willing to Stand Together

Here’s a video of a group of Muslims, and one self-identified Conservative Christian who stood up to a couple of racist hate mongers outside a McCain/Palin rally. I applaud the courage of these Americas to stand up and shout down the racist elements in Senator McCain’s campaign.

If everyone in America stood up and shouted down the racists, what a country we could be.

The sad part of this story (beyond the race hatred and fear mongering) is, one of the gentlemen in the video, Daniel Zubairi, a Muslim who works for the McCain campaign, was scheduled to talk with CNN’s Rick Sanchez via a telephone interview. Someone at the McCain campaign made the decision to pull Mr. Zubairi off the interview for unknown reasons.

I just have to wonder why the McCain campaign would deliberately avoid a chance to clear the air regarding these racists comments. What are they trying to do?

It makes you wonder, or, if it doesn’t, it should.

Are we on the brink of another Civil War?

Consider, Sarah Palin’s husband, Todd, was a confirmed member of the Alaskan Independence Party from 1995-2002. The Alaskan Independence Party’s (or AIP for short) stated goals are to remove Alaska from the Union. In other words, they want to secede.

Sarah Palin has called Barack Obama a “terrorist” and charged that he “doesn’t see America the way we see America.” A clearly racist comment meant, not to heal old wounds and bring us together, but to sharply divide us and force us apart. I’m reminded of an old saying, maybe you’ve heard it before, maybe as a child. What was it again? Oh yeah. I remember:

“United We Stand. Divided We Fall.”

If we allow Sarah Palin and her ilk to divide us, all free thinking Americans, regardless of skin color will be a dying breed. After all, the racist rhetoric being spewed by the McCain Campaign are just the beginning. “Kill him!” Someone shouted. A clear statement of intent and one potentially actionable under the law, should charges be proffered. (And they should be.)

I get it now. I get what you’re saying, Senator McCain. I understand what you’re doing. You are appealing to the lowest common denominator among voters. These voters, who don’t listen to everything, (What did you call them? “Low information voters?” A euphemism for “stupid voters” if I ever heard one.), who aren’t generally informed, and don’t think beyond the surface comments you spew out of your hate filled mouth. That’s who you are appealing to.

And fear can be a powerful motivator.

You see, fear is what drives the McCain/Palin ticket. Fear of the unknown. Fear of someone different from you. Fear of change.

John McCain replaces respect with fear. Fear? I don’t fear my government, but my government should fear me. I am a free man. With a voice. A voice that can change the world. That is what Senator McCain and Governor Palin fear. They fear that they will no longer be respected. Because in their eyes, fear and respect are the same things.

A populace must fear those who are different from themselves within the same populace. They must fear their government, for they have entrusted all their power to it for the sole purpose of protecting themselves from “Them.” When “Them” turns out to be the very protectors we hired to protect us. “Who Watches the Watchmen?” Indeed, who does?

So remember this, Senator McCain, Governor Palin, as you both return to your respective homes, (you’ll have to pick which one you return to, Johnny Boy). Remember, as Albert Camus said, “Nothing is more despicable than respect based on fear.”

And you two, with your racist rhetoric of lies and hatred, are nothing if not despicable.

Alight and Afire with Ideas

I’ve been thinking lately of writing a book or five. I’ve been slowly compiling ideas for these books and ordering my thoughts. I felt the need to share some of my ideas, in general, and, perhaps, get some preliminary feedback regarding these ideas.

They are (with working titles):
A Culture of Fear: American Politics in a Post 9/11 World (Obviously dealing with how fear is used to keep Americans in line.)
Stagnant Culture: A Manifesto for Change (A dissertation on why and how our culture needs to change in order to survive.)
The House of Goonery: The Wacky Ramblings of WonderGoon (A reprint of my blog entries from both Pagan Nation/WordPress.com and The Pagan Circle along with some all new material. I’ve begun this project; see below for an important announcement.)

My World in Pictures (My views of the world, as seen through the lens of my camera.)
